Synopsis
« Louise and Sam are neighbours. They spend their summer holidays playing together in the forest to build their dream tree house. But from one day to the next, without any apparent explanation, Sam loses interest in Louise. He continues to come to her house but to play with his older brother. Rejected, Louise is going to look for her place in other ways.»
«Louise et Sam sont voisins. Ils passent leurs vacances d’été à jouer ensemble dans la forêt qui borde leur quartier pour construire la cabane de leur rêve. Mais du jour au lendemain, sans explication apparente, Sam ne s’intéresse plus à Louise. Il continue pourtant à venir chez elle mais pour jouer avec son grand frère. Rejetée, Louise va chercher sa place autrement. »
Director Statement
« Petite » is a film that deals with the issue of inter-gender friendships from childhood onwards and the places that are assigned to each at a very early age. Louise arrives at an age when she is expected to take a place that she refuses to take : withdrawal.
